Californian authorities will use Danish water technology in order to generate an overview of the areas and the groundwater resources that has been affected by the drought in the state. Furthermore, this will accelerate the opportunity to utilize fresh groundwater within the drinking water supply.
California authorities will now focus on mapping the groundwater resources in order to make the water cache more sustainable. In that connection, there has been focus on Danish solutions and knowhow. This program has been developed based on a groundwater mapping program throughout the past 15 years.

Bay Area Nordics and those wanting to learn from them, met over a beer to discuss this burning question at our recent event held in San Francisco. Torsten Kolind from YouNoodle led the discussion with a panel of young entrepreneurs who all have direct experience with Danish and American business culture.
The reason for the topic? Well, the Nordic countries churn out more $1b+ startups than the US per capita, and the region is also known to have some of the happiest people on the planet.
New and uncertain world order sets the stage for Danish government’s new foreign and security policy strategy
The strategy follows from the extensive 2016 review of Denmark’s foreign policy and covers all areas of the government’s foreign policy work. The strategy was presented by Minister for Foreign Affairs Anders Samuelsen and Minister for Development Cooperation Ulla Tørnæs.

- The combined VC investments in Denmark accumulated in 2016 €370M (≈$400). Numbers from the Danish Venture Capital Association.
- Half of the investment into Unity was secondary market shares, which means that the early investors AND employees suddenly become very rich - making them potential angel investors (which often happens).
As a side note: Founder and board member of Unity, David Helgason has been a mentor in several of the SCALEit programs.
In October 2016, the Danish Government launched the Danish Drone Strategy focusing on the civilian use of drones. Six ambitions to enhance the development and use of drone technology are presented in the strategy and one of the central ambitions is to promote the internationalization of Danish drone research and industry.
For this reason Innovation Center Denmark attended AUVSI XPONENTIAL – the biggest unmanned event in the world with more than 7000 people participating – in Dallas, Texas three days in May. Both representatives from universities and more than 20 industries – from agriculture, energy, and security to broadcasting – attended, which provided the optimal setting for Innovation Center Denmark, Silicon Valley to search for potential international collaborators for the Danish drone research environment.
