Program & Speakers at the "ICDK Lounge"
Bay Area Nordics and those wanting to learn from them, met over a beer to discuss this burning question at our recent event held in San Francisco. Torsten Kolind from YouNoodle led the discussion with a panel of young entrepreneurs who all have direct experience with Danish and American business culture.
The reason for the topic? Well, the Nordic countries churn out more $1b+ startups than the US per capita, and the region is also known to have some of the happiest people on the planet.
Conference platform Conferize have IPO'd on the Danish stock market, meaning a piece of the company can be yours for 8kr.
Congratulations to Unity technologies on their $400M raise today! This (again) proves the power of Silicon Valley, and how Danish tech companies can leverage the Bay Area.
For your perspective:
- The combined VC investments in Denmark accumulated in 2016 €370M (≈$400). Numbers from the Danish Venture Capital Association.
- Half of the investment into Unity was secondary market shares, which means that the early investors AND employees suddenly become very rich - making them potential angel investors (which often happens).
As a side note: Founder and board member of Unity, David Helgason has been a mentor in several of the SCALEit programs.
Coming up: SCALEit Inspire events in Aalborg, Aarhus and Copenhagen
